Video. The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles.

As special witnesses to the world of the divinity of Jesus Christ, the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared their testimony of Christ by recording excerpts from the original document, “The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles.” Originally published on January 1, 2000, the document commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ two thousand years ago.

Watching this video and listening to each one of the Twelve Apostles and of the members of the First Presidency sharing their testimony, reminded me of the scriptures in 1st Corinthians 27:

…and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty

While these men are strong in spirit, experience, and wisdom, they have passed the prime of their lives. Some people, watching them sharing their testimonies of the Savior could too easily dismiss them, when noticing the frailties of age and the imperfection to which all men are subject. But as the Apostles Paul said, God confound the mighty people of the world, those who think they are strong and are prideful, with the truly powerful, but apparently weak followers of Hs Gospel.

This even more applies to the the young missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are found in many countries of the world. Their weakness, including inexperience, is even more evident, but they nonetheless carry a message of salvation for all those who humbly listen to their words. They don’t have power in themselves, but through the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ they can be made truly powerful.

As we learn in the Book of Mormon, a missionary called Ammon properly testified:

Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever” (Alma 26:12).

Thirty-four years ago, I was able to see through the weakness of two young missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because of the power of the message that they were carrying with them, and I accepted to become a member of the Restored Church of the Savior. I never regretted that decision that has only brought blessings to my life.
