In the opening session of the April 2022 General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Russell M. Nelson, after recognizing the challenges of our time, invited young men and young women, and older couples, to serve missions.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still being a challenge in many places, and now with the war in Ukraine, the prophet reaffirmed the importance of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. The message of the Gospel of peace and salvation is the only solution to all the problems of this world, including hate and wars.
After inviting all of us to pray for peace, President Nelson reminded the members of the Church of the importance of “helping gather Israel” through service in a full time mission. Missions will bless the missionaries who serve and those who learn the Gospel from them.
Missionaries of Jesus Christ testify of the Savior and they share with others the light of the Gospel, light that is even more visible and needed in the increasing darkness of the world.
After President Nelson, President M. Russell Ballard, president of the quorum of the Twelve Apostles, also discussed missionary work. This seems to be a main theme of this April 2022 General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
