The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is using augmented reality technology to bring to life key events in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ in the Holy Land through related videos, articles, scriptures and images.

The new study tool coincides with the Church’s “Come, Follow Me” study of the New Testament during 2023. The resource will be available on in 24 languages through the end of the year.

How to Use the Tool

Simply hold your mobile phone or tablet over a flat surface and a three-dimensional map of the Holy Land will appear. The map displays locations of 91 events and teachings recorded in the four Gospels, such as the baptism of Jesus and the Sermon on the Mount. These events are organized into eight stages of the Savior’s earthly ministry, such as His North Galilean Ministry or the week before His Resurrection.  

To learn about an event, selecting a number on the map or use the side gallery that allows you to scroll through the 91 events from the Savior’s life in order.

Once an event is selected, up to four icons appear at the bottom of the screen that let you access related content. Each of the 91 events links to scriptures, videos, articles and images that you can select to help you learn more about the event. (Read the full article here)
