Vita privata

Nato ad American Fork, nello Utah, D. Todd Christofferson si è diplomato nel New Jersey; ha conseguito un bachelor’s degree presso la Brigham Young University, dove ha ricevuto la borsa di studio Edwin S. Hinckley, laureandosi poi in Giurisprudenza alla Duke University.

Tra le varie chiamate, è stato rappresentante regionale della Chiesa, presidente di palo e vescovo. Da giovane ha svolto una missione in Argentina.

D. Todd Christofferson e sua moglie, Katherine Jacob Christofferson, hanno cinque figli.

Vita professionale

Al momento della sua chiamata nel Quorum dei Dodici serviva nella Presidenza dei Settanta. Mentre era nella Presidenza dei Settanta, l’anziano Christofferson è stato supervisore delle aree della Chiesa Nord America Ovest, Nordovest e Sudest. Ha servito anche come direttore esecutivo del Dipartimento di storia familiare e storia della Chiesa. In precedenza è stato presidente dell’Area Messico Sud della Chiesa, risiedendo a Città del Messico.

Prima della sua chiamata come Autorità generale a tempo pieno, l’anziano Christofferson era responsabile dell’ufficio legale della NationsBank Corporation (ora Bank of America) a Charlotte, North Carolina. In precedenza era stato vice presidente senior e legale della Commerce Union Bank del Tennessee a Nashville, dove era anche attivo nella comunità e nelle organizzazioni interreligiose. Dal 1975 al 1980 l’anziano Christofferson ha esercitato la professione legale a Washington, D.C., dopo aver servito quale assistente legale del giudice distrettuale degli Stati Uniti John J. Sirica durante i processi e altre azioni legali noti come Watergate (1972–1974).
